We Will Harness Our Ties For Mutual Benefits …Prez Assures Ambassadors

President Akufo-Addo has received credentials from ambassadors from Brazil, Sweden,Spain and Liberia and pledged government’s resolve to work closely with all countries to ensure that existing relations between Ghana and the rest of the world is harnessed for the mutual benefit of its people.

 

He received the four credentials at the Ceremonial Room at the Flag Staff House in four separate meetings.

The ambassadors conveyed the best wishes of their respective Heads of State to the President and assured that they would ensure that their duty tour of Ghana inures to the benefit of Ghana as well as their respective countries.

Doing the first presentation, the Liberian Ambassador to Ghana, H. E. Ms. Genevieve A. Kennedy conveyed the best wishes of her Head of State to the President, Akufo-Addo and assured that she will ensure that her duty tour of Ghana inures to the benefit of Ghana as well as Liberia.

Ms. Genevieve A. Kennedy congratulated President Akufo-Addo for his election as the African Union champion for gender for his role in promoting gender parity and socio economic development.

She pledged to strive hard and build the ties that existed between Ghana and Liberia so as to achieve the duties given to her as Ambassador.

In the like manner, H. E. Inger Elizabeth Jorgensen Ultvedt of Sweden also presented her credentials and said Ghana and Sweden were well connected and that his duty was to see more of Ghana's exports to his country and an increase in the number of Swedish tourists to the country.

According to him, the two countries have had exchange of trade delegations, an indication of their long-standing economic ties.

He conveyed his country's gratitude to President Akufo-Addo.

The Spanish Ambassador to Ghana Alicia Rico Perez Del Pulsar in presenting her credentials to the President indicated that the government of Spain will continue to promote military cooperation with Ghana and that there would be continuous capacity building in Military intelligence and other areas related to defense for the people of Ghana.

Alicia Rico Perez Del Pulsar commended Ghana for its peace-keeping operations in support of the conflicts resolution in the sub-region and said she will work hard to ensure that both countries enhance mutual cooperation and understanding.

H. E. Maria Elisa T. De Luna, Brazilian ambassador to Ghana on her part enumerated that the bilateral trade between Brazil and Ghana over the years, have inured to great benefits and that trade between the two countries continued to grow, adding that Brazil also appreciated that Ghana was a consumer of its products.

The Brazilian Ambassador added that “just as Ghana, Brazil also believes in urgent need of reforming the international system in order to make it reflect the world’s new reality of the millennium”

She said the trade levels indicated a tendency or relationship that was going to be maintained for a very long time.

The President in receiving their credentials, said despite the overall positive picture of the good economic relations between Ghana and these countries, more could be done to make the relations more mutually beneficial.
