The Kingmakers of Prampram; led by Numo Okyemen Opeh, the chief, Dzaase, and linguist have denied claims that the murder of the late Mankralo of the area, Nene Atsure Benta III was orchestrated by Nene Tetteh Waka III and his people.
At a press conference held to debunk such claims as published in the media, Numo Okyemen Opeh said Nene Tetteh Waka III who has been nominated to be installed as chief of Prampram never paid money to the late Mankrado to carry out his installation.
He said Chief Nene Waka came from the Waka family and was appointed and nominated by the head of family of Waka family to be vetted for the position of the paramount chief of the area and that there is no justification for him to pay the Mankrado before getting himself installed since he is the rightful person to sit on the Stool.
He said the paramount Chief is the rightful person to be installed as the chief of the area therefore, any other candidate who may be holding himself as such is an “imposter.”
Numo Okyemen Opeh also stressed that after the shooting of their Mankrado, some other functions within the family wanted to take the opportunity to tarnish the image of the Nene Waka family for their selfish interest hence, have decided to blame the Nene Waka family.
He also explained that it was the turn for the Nii Waku family house to install a new chief for the Prampram traditional area and so they selected the one who was supposed to be the chief and presented the said person to the Mankralo for introduction.
He, however, explained that the payment of 30,000 Ghana Cedis was customary, which was used for preparation towards the chief’s outdooring to the general public but not an inducement to buy the stool or the title.
