The Greater Accra Regional Director of Police in charge of operations, Chief Supt. Kwesi Ofori has led a team of policemen to arrest one Bill Adjiri Solomon, alleged Chief land guard who was being installed as Ngleshie Alata Chief (James Town).

The swift action by the police has saved Accra from an impending bloody clash.

The police, acting upon a tip-off stormed the hideout of the said chief where he was being kept for installation and arrest a group of land guards and some members of the Solomon family.

The team of policemen stormed the residence in Korle Gonno, adjacent the Mamprobi Tuesday Market, opened up a room where Bill Adjiri Solomon was being confined to be installed as Big-league ‘Mantse’ and pulled him out.

Bill Adjiri Solomon’s confinement was brewing tension yet to escalate into conflict which was likely to turn bloody but was immediately brought under control by the Accra Regional police operations team.

The suspects have been arrested and detained at the Accra Regional Police command for act that breach public peace.

It is emerging that other chief land guards engineered and masterminded the whole operation to install Bill Adjiri Solomon as the James Town Mantse.

Meanwhile, police sources have revealed that the suspects will be processed for Court.

However, Kingmakers and elders have already installed Dr. Prince William Asharku Bruce-Quaye to succeed the late Obrempng Kojo Ababio VI with the Stool name Obrempong Wetse Kojo II.

It could be recalled that principal kingmakers and elders of the Alata Traditional Area in Accra on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, performed traditional and customary rites to induct the newly-installed paramount chief of James Town, Obrempong Wetse Kojo II into the Ajumaku Dewurampong Royal Stool House.

The customary rites was performed by the Chief Priest (Wolumo) of Ajumaku Dewurampong, Numoo Jamrah III and supported by the Principal Stool Father of Ajumaku Royal Stool, Nii Tetteh Tsuru III and Kingmaker (Dzaasetse) for the Stool, Nii Ayi Okujeaman IV.

The customary rites had confirmed the fact that Obrempong Wetse Kojo II was traditional endorsed as the legitimate person to ascend the throne of Alata Nglenshie Paramount Stool to succeed the late substantive James Town Mantse, Obrempong Kojo Ababio V, who passed away on the 22nd of December 2017, after a short illness.

His selection, nomination, election and enstoolment follow a consensus that was reached by the Kingmakers of the two gates of the Ngleshie Alata James Town Stool; Nii Kofi Akrahie We and Nii Wetse Kojo We.

Obrempong Wetse Kojo II swore the oath office, secrecy and allegiance before the Ajumaku Royal Stool amidst chanting war songs and beating of Royal war drums in the Ajumaku Dewurampong stool House.
