28 communities in the Fanteakwa North District Assembly have finally been connected to the national grid.
Their connectivity was made possible through the efforts of the Member of Parliament for the area, Hon. Kwabena Amankwa Asiamah and the District Assembly in collaboration with the Electricity Company of Ghana.
These 28 Communities are communities without light since independence or the establishment of such communities.
Majority of residents in communities such as Asrebuso, Bese Buomu, Miawa, Fayiase, Ayigbe town came, Owusu krom came out in their numbers with joy, hailing and expressing gratitude to their MP, Hon. Akwasi Amankwa Asiamah known as Guarantee for expediting the process to help connect them to the national grid.
Speaking to residents in the beneficiary 28 communities, the MP for Fanteakwa North, Hon. Amankwa Asiamah reiterated his commitment to his people, saying that it helped a great deal when they voted into power a government who have people in the rural communities at heart.
According to him, seeing light in their communities is one of the impacts of a positive and government for the people.
Hon. Amankwah Asiamah expressed excitement at providing the needs of his constituents.
He finally admonished the people to stay away from illegal connections, burning of light poles amongst others that may not impede service delivery from ECG.
The DCE for Fanteakwa North, Hon. Charles Oware Tweneboah on his part called for culture of maintenance and a stop to activities that may lead to domestic fire outbreaks.
The Chief for Asrebuso Nana Kwame Boateng and the Dade Mantse for Fayiase community also commended the government for their efforts to get them connected to the national grid. Since they had no hope that they will so soon be connected to the national Grid.
Mr. Lincoln Abraham Damtey, regional marketing officer for ECG on his Part said about 400 customers had been taken through some sensitization programs to ensure efficient and judicious use of power.
