Some supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akim Swedru Constituency in the Eastern Region have threatened to vote against NPP’s current MP, Hon. Kennedy Osei Nyarko should the delegates elect him as the parliamentary candidate for the 2024 election.
According to the supporters, the performance of the MP over the last 8 years has been abysmal and that there would be a disaster if he is allowed to continue. They chastised him for not doing enough to bring the needed development to the area. They claim he has demonstrated insensitivity to the needs of the constituents during his three terms as the Member of Parliament.
According to the loyal supporters of the party the town is face with enormous developmental deficits such as deplorable road network, poor market infrastructure, unavailability of decent public place of convenience/ sanitation facilities which are gravely affecting the Akim Swedru community without any attached priority. The supporters therefore called on the delegates to elect Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem, the Controller and Accountant General to rescue the constituency in their primary having vowed to vote skirt and blouse if the current MP becomes the PC again.
According to them, Mr. Kwasi Kwaning Bosompem has initiated a lot of social and infrastructural development programs in areas of education, health, employment and road construction in a bid to lessen the plights of the constituents. In the area of education, the party people said Mr. Bosompem has constructed a 12- unit classroom for the Swedru SHS and school blocks for junior high schools in other local areas in the constituency.
Having recognized the terrible road network in the constituency, the Controller and Accountant General has started constructing the road linking Aporah Ningo to other communities to ease burdens in transportation. A number of interventions in health and sanitation have also been identified and are being addressed by the controller as the supporters believe such an individual with better foresight would benefit the constituents.
