The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Regional Executives and Chairmen in Greater Accra Region to keep together and reinforce their unity so as to maintain their morale for the next four years.
According to him, there is no point in spending their energies pointing fingers at each other, but to focus on the falsehoods the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is propagating claiming they have won the election.
“And we should remember, ever since Jerry John Rawlings left the presidential scene of politics in our country, no NDC presidential candidate has won more than 51 percent of the votes. His successor Mills, in his first round against Kufuor 44 percent, second round 47 percent. When it came to the second time against Kufuor the same figures and in 2008 when he contested against me after three rounds, he got 50.03 percent of the vote,” he noted.
“These NDC people are making so much noise, we won we won, remember they began, one time we even went to 145 seats. They could never be quite clear how many with 139, 140, 141, 145, Mahama had won the election,” he said.
The President was interacting with Regional Executives and Chairmen of the party in Greater Accra Region where he noted that all that Mahama and the NDC are claiming turned out to be false.
He also averred that John Mahama in 2012 had 50.7% and in 2016, 44 percent of the votes, whilst obtaining 47 percent of the vote in 2020.
He said: “What do these figures tell us is that, whenever we in the NPP put our acts together, we win. The majority is with us, so let us be very clear in our mind.”
Nana Akufo-Addo said their opponent with all the shouting do not have the support of the majority of the people in the country, hence the future of Ghana, is in the hands of the NPP.
“It is the function of how we behave, how we organize ourselves that will determine how the country will also move ahead,” he said.
