The continue stay of embattled ex-Chairman of the Christian Divine Church (CDC), Apostle Ebenezer Boahen, despite his tenure of office expiring over three years ago; has drawn the fury of some Pastors of the church.
They are therefore hurling fire and brimstone while calling for an immediate election, as a matter of urgency, to elect a new Chairman to steers the affairs of the church.
About a week ago, the General Secretary of CDC, Pastor Sam Awuah, acting under the instructions of the former, Chairman Apostle Ebenezer Boahen distributed a circular summoning all relevant stakeholders to a scheduled Pastors Council Meeting on 17th November, 2023 and a General Meeting on the 18th November, 2023.
The invitees included: all full-time Pastors, all Caretakers, all Newly elected Branch Executives and all Administrative Secretaries.
Others were; all National and Regional Leaders of Recognized Fellowships — viz. Men/Women Fellowships, Gospel Band, Singing Bands, Brass Band, Ushers, Choir Divine Voices and Youth Fellowship.
However, Pastor Awortwe who is the area head of Tarkwa and some other pastors are of different opinion and have written a strongly-worded letter to the former Chairman rubbishing his arrangement for the said meetings.
In fact, a section of the Church disregards the “so called” General secretary because they claim he was not duly elected but rather hand-picked by the Ex-Chairman.
In his own words in the letter he said, “Ex-Chairman Boahen, I want to tell you and Pastor Samuel Awuah to stop playing with our intelligence because we are not kids. You are no more the chairman of Christian divine Church. How can someone, whose term of office has expired since 28th January 2021, organize a meeting to form General and Executive Council, for what. Boahen, let me tell you the truth, you have no capacity to form any General council and Executive Council because, your term of office has expired. Your agenda of the meeting is out of proportion. What we need now is the chairmanship election. when the new chairman comes, he will form the General and Executive Council but not you.”
He reiterated; “Let me tell you another truth, the consent judgement you had with pastor Emmanuel Arthur is between you and Emmanuel Arthur and not the church as a whole because, the pastoral council, who voted you into power has not had any consent judgement with you. What we know is that the mandate pastoral council gave you has expired since 28th January, 2022. I am speaking as one of the contestants, who should have contested with you in 2018, but I threw my support behind you during the election. Behold, the power the Pastoral Council invested in you is dead, so you have no capacity to form General and Executive Council. Do not deceive yourself.”
“Ex–Chairman Boahen, why are you disturbing the peace of the church always with this consent judgement you had nikodemusly with Pastor Emmanuel Arthur, and you are always happy with this, does the church belongs to Emmanuel Arthur? God is watching us. The trustees are challenging the consent judgement at Tarkwa High Court and the case has been adjourned to 17th November, 2023. So, the case is still pending before Tarkwa High Court”, he stated.
