Apremdo Kingmakers Confirm Destoolment of Chief   …As Omanhene Calls For Calm.

From Marlvin-James Dadzie, Takoradi

Some kingmakers of the Apremdo stool in Takoradi in the Western Region have reiterated their position that the chief of the area, Nana Egya Kwamina XI, has been duly destooled in line with customs and tradition and must therefore stay off the stool.

The kingmakers, led by Ebusuapanyin Dominic Yalley, recently held a press conference in Takoradi to caution the public from dealing with the said chief on issues related to the Apremdo stool.

They alleged that Nana Kwamina who had been the chief since 2008 had misconducted himself, thus bringing the reputation of the stool into disrepute.

They also alleged that he had been engaged in rampant sale of the stool’s lands and not bringing any development to the area under his ten-year rule hence, his destoolment on November 19, 2017.

“We are therefore calling on the corporate bodies, various institutions, the Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as the general public not to deal with the former chief, Nana Egya Kwamina XI, on matters pertaining to the stool of Apremdo

“All matters regarding the stool of Apremdo should be addressed to Ebusuapanyin Dominic Yalley,  the substantive head of Ebiradze stool family of Apremdo “, Ebusuapanyin Yalley stated at the said press conference held on July 11, 2018.

But, shortly afterwards, Nana Egya Kwamina XI hit back, claiming to still be the substantive chief of area.

He alleged that Ebusuapanyin Dominic Yalley was not the substantive head of the Ebiradze family and therefore does not have the capacity to initiate such action.

“As a gazatted chief and a member of Ahanta Traditional Council,  I wish to bring it to known that there are no pending cases being it dispute or destoolment in respect of the Apremdo Stool and that such press conferences are well calculated schemes and frivolous attempts to bring my hard won reputation into disrepute “, Nana Egya Kwamina XI stated in a letter circulated to media houses.

In a follow-up to this raging impasse, some of the kingmakers who spoke in an interview with The New Crusading GUIDE on Tuesday said their decision still holds.

There are quite a number of youth in the town who also support the alleged destoolment of the chief.

Ato Ackah, one of such youth,  said the decision by the Ebusuapanyin and the elders was in the best interest of the town,  stating that the town had seen less development under the watch of the chief.

Meanwhile, the President of the Ahanta Traditional Council,  Otumfour Baidoo Bonsoe XV,  under whose jurisdiction Apremdo falls,  has summoned the two feuding factions to his palace to settle the matter. The case would be heard on Friday, July 27, 2018.
