The Oshipi of Ashalaja in the Ga West Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Joshua Larttey, is reported to have been shot dead by some unknown persons.
He was said to have been shot on his way to a traditional meeting at Achiaman.
The late chief, according to information, was shot twice on the forehead whilst riding his motorbike.
Briefing the media, the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Iddi Lansah Seidu, said “we were at post early this morning when the deceased was brought to our end wounded and we rushed him to the Amasaman hospital where he died on arrival “.
The Police Commander said they followed up to the house of a suspect who is currently on the run and found two pistols, cutlasses among other weapons.
The Police Commander assured that they would do everything possible to fish out the killers of the traditional leader.
The Akwaashongtse of Akwaanor Royal Family, in an interview described the death of the chief as very sudden.
He said he suspects the Chief of Ashalaja as the person behind the death of Joshua Lartey.
He alledged that the area has recorded several high profile murder cases and wants the security services to be alert and ensure that the delinquents are apprehended.
He therefore pleaded with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to extend his hard works to the area to deal with the criminals.
