Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Atwima-Nwabiagya Michael Amoah Awuku is employing acts of intimidation as part of an entire vindictive agenda to have all those considered threats to his second-term bid being relegated to the background.
The latest is the use of alleged thugs believed to his assignees led by one Pablo to assault workers at the Royal Ann College of Health knowing very that the facility belongs to one of the MCE aspirants.
According to owners of the property, this occurred on 21st May 2021 when the supposed task force members and some workers of the assembly works department stormed the project site under the guise of inspecting building permits.
“We were here when suddenly; one Pablo who is a known boy of the MCE came here to attack us claiming they were the assembly task force. They claimed they were here to take some permits”, a Supervisor of Royal Ann College of Health revealed
Meanwhile the name of Michael AmoahAwuku who appears to be seriously losing favour with chiefs and residents of the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Constituency, has popped up for his alleged role in illegal mining.
He is reportedly fuelinggalamsey through his agent identified as Hon YussifYahaya an Assembly member for Ntabanu Electoral area who is also a Deputy NDC organizer within the Municipality.
Illegal mining activities in the area are detrimental to River Mankran, the only source of drinking water in the community and its environs.
Community revealed that the MCE is a beneficiary of the said illegal mining activities within the Ntabanu area and has therefore refused to act against its proliferation.
But Sampson Kwaku-Agyin, NPP Polling Station Chairman for Ntabanu said he is unaware if the MCE is involved in illegal mining or not. According to him, what he knows is drawing the attention of the appointee to activities of illegal mining that is polluting water bodies from the AhafoAno South.
“What I know is that the pollution of the water bodies in the Mankran River starts from the AhafoAno South and flows to Ntabanu. I have drawn the attention of the MCE to it but he told me it does not fall within his jurisdiction but has made some efforts to curtail the practice. I am not sure he is into illegal mining as being accused of”, he revealed.
Hon YussifYahaya who is the Assemblyman of the area on the other hand admitted engaging in mining but revealed that he has halted following government directives.
He also denied being backed by the MCE in the activity as being claimed by some persons insisting that he is his own man and does not need the backing of the MCE to operate.
