The Auditor-General, Mr. Johnson Akuamoah Asiedu, has made an additional transfer of Nine Million, Five Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH¢9,500,000.00) into the Consolidated Fund the Auditor-General’s Recoveries Account. This brings to a total transfer of GH¢19,500,000.00 into the Consolidated Fund during the 2023 financial year.
Mr. Akuamoah, speaking to the Press, stated that the Auditor-General’s Recoveries Account he opened at the Bank of Ghana in June 2022 was mainly to receive unearned salaries and allowances recovered.
In a related development, Mr. Akuamoah indicated that he had, in 2023, submitted 22 Audit Reports to Parliament in compliance with the Constitutional requirement. Understanding the importance of producing timely audit reports, Mr. Akuamoah said that the measures he has put in place at the Audit Service continue to yield positive results as he has for three consecutive years submitted his reports to Parliament before the Constitutional deadline. According to the A-G, a total of 18 audit reports were submitted to Parliament in 2021, 15 reports in 2022, and 22 reports in 2023.
The Auditor-General, once again, thanked the Government and the Minister for Finance for the timely release of funds to the Audit Service to enable him discharge his Constitutional mandate. He also thanked the staff of the Audit Service for their diligent and dedicated work.
The A-G said the Audit Service will continue to promote good governance, transparency, accountability, and probity in Ghana’s public financial management system.
