Former Ellembelle District Chief Executive, Kwasi Bonzoh, has expressed gratitude to the leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after the party’s National Steering Committee overturned his disqualification and cleared him to contest the Western Regional Secretary position.
The decision, taken on August 3, 2026, reversed the earlier ruling by the Western Regional Vetting and Appeals Committees, which had initially disqualified Mr Bonzoh from the race.
In a statement following the decision, Mr Bonzoh thanked the National Steering Committee for what he described as a fair and just determination of his case.
He said the decision had reaffirmed his confidence in the party’s internal democratic processes and commitment to justice.
“I am deeply grateful to the National Steering Committee and the leadership of our great party for giving me a fair hearing and ensuring that justice prevailed,” he stated.
Mr Bonzoh also thanked his supporters, party delegates and members across the Western Region for their encouragement and unwavering support throughout the process.
According to him, the outcome should not be seen as a personal victory but as a triumph for fairness, unity and due process within the NPP.
He called on party members to put the vetting controversy behind them and work together to strengthen the party ahead of the 2028 general election.
“My focus now is to engage delegates respectfully and present my vision for strengthening the administrative structures of the party in the Western Region,” he said.
Mr Bonzoh pledged to run a campaign based on unity, discipline and effective party organisation, adding that the NPP would need a strong and cohesive regional executive to prepare for future electoral contests.
The former DCE reiterated his commitment to serving the party faithfully if elected and promised to work with all stakeholders to promote unity and organisational efficiency across the region.
The National Steering Committee’s decision has reopened the contest for the Western Regional Secretary position and is expected to intensify campaigning ahead of the regional executive elections.
