The Constitution Review Committee (CRC), under the directive of President John Dramani Mahama, has announced plans to begin a nationwide series of zonal public engagements aimed at gathering citizen input on reforms to the 1992 Constitution.
“The Constitution Review Committee (CRC), under the directive of His Excellency the President of the Republic of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama is pleased to inform the general public that it will embark on a nationwide series of Zonal Public Engagements,” CRC stated.
In a statement dated Monday, June 10, and signed by the Committee’s Secretary, Rainer Akumperigya, PhD, the CRC emphasized that these engagements are a crucial part of its mandate to ensure broad-based public participation in the constitutional review process.
“These engagements are part of the Committee’s mandate to solicit views, inputs, and proposals from the Ghanaian people on the review of the 1992 Constitution,” the statement noted.
The Committee affirmed that the 1992 Constitution belongs to all Ghanaians, and underscored the importance of citizen participation in shaping the country’s democratic future.
“We encourage all citizens, community leaders, civil society organisations, traditional authorities, youth groups, and other stakeholders to participate actively in the upcoming engagements,” the statement urged.
Further, while specific dates and venues for the zonal engagements will be announced in the coming days via official media channels, the CRC is inviting Ghanaians to begin sending their written submissions to submissions@constitutionreviewgh.org.
The Committee assured the public of its commitment to crafting a constitution that truly reflects the shared values, aspirations, and development goals of the Ghanaian people.
