An Accra High Court, Human Rights Division, has issued a Bench Warrant for the arrest of George Tackie Abia a.k.a Nii Tackie Adama Latse.
The Order for Bench Warrant became necessary when he failed to appear in Court on two consecutive times in a quasi-criminal case ‘The Republic vrs George Tackie Abia a.k.a Nii Tackie Adama Latse (Respondent); Ex-Parte Nii Agyemankese II a.k.a Emmanuel Marty Ammah (Applicant).’
The Bench Warrant which was signed and issued on October 29, 2020 by the High Court Registrar, Ekow Dzimm Mensah-Attah, stated that “…the Respondent has twice failed to attend Court, without placing before the Court reasons for his absence. And upon Hearing Kweku Paintsil, Counsel for Nii TETTEH ASHONG V, Applicant for substitution and BRIGHT AKWETEY, Counsel for the Respondent. It is hereby ordered that, Bench Warrant be issued for the arrest of George Tackie Abia a.k.a Nii Tackie Adama Latse, the Respondent herein.”
The Order however indicated that George Tackie Abia be brought to Court on the November 12, 2020 upon the execution of the Warrant.
