The Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Honorable, Paul Apraku Twum Barimah has commended President Akufo Addo for securing enough Corona Virus Vaccines for Ghana and urged Ghanaians to accept the vaccines with no hesitation to save lives.
He described the vaccines as safe and says it would not pose any harm to the lives of Ghanaians when injected. “I am assuring the people of Ghana that the vaccines pose no harm to human lives. They have been tested and proven by the Food and Drugs Authority of Ghana and the Ghana Standards Authority for the treatment of COVID 19. Government is working around the clock to save human lives and the lives of people affected by COVID 19 and all of us must support government to achieve the aim of protecting every Ghanaian from the Covid 19 pandemic. As a Member of Parliament I will have mine today together with my colleague members of parliament. So there is no cause to worry at all”, he stated
Ghana received the world’s first delivery of coronavirus vaccines from the United Nations-backed COVAX initiative. The arrival of 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine in Ghana last week marked the beginning of the largest vaccine procurement and supply operation in history, according to the World Health Organization and UNICEF.
It is a linchpin of efforts to bring the pandemic to an end and has been hailed as the first time the world has delivered a highly sought-after vaccine to poor countries during an ongoing outbreak. The first shipment of COVID-19 vaccines distributed by the COVAX Facility arrived at the Kotoka International Airport last week. Ghana is among 92 countries that are receiving vaccines for free.
