The Minister for Roads and highways, Hon. Kwasi Amoako Atta has ordered contractors working on the Nungua Barrier interchange to demolish all structures that are hampering the progress of the project.
The Minister made this known when he visited the site as part of his visit to some ongoing road project on Wednesday 13, April 2022. He urged road contractors to evacuate buildings that are delaying the expansion of the Nungua interchange Road
The Minister also visited the Abattoir Bridge and urged the contractors to work fix the weak bridge. Also all weeds and posters causing effect to the bridge should be evacuated in a month time which he will come and inspect.
The Minister together with his Deputy Minister Steven Jalula , officials of the Department of Urban Roads, Department of Feeder Roads, Highway Authority, the MCE for Tema west , MP for Tema west Carlos Ahenkorah and other important officials went for the inspection.
The selected roads which are undergoing construction are the Community 16 Abattoir bridge road, community 20 estates road, 16 sheets Collins Dauda Road which leads to Batsonaa, Sakumono road/Sakumono Village and Nungua barrier interchange etc.
The Nungua Barrier Interchange is one of the major roads used by drivers. It’s considered the short route to Tema, Ashaiman and Accra aside the Tema motorway.
The la beach road Complexion project (LBRC) PH2 consists of two sections, that’s the Accra-Tema Coastal road (KM 14+900-21+175) and the Nungua main road (kM 0-000-1+435)
The project scope is covering construction of the bridge, Road, Drainage System, Lighting Traffic engineering Landscape engineering pipeline relocation and other ancillary works along the side road stretch the main construction contents are one 3-tier interchange at nugua junction ,one (1) bridge over blekese stream , one extension of the railway bridge and about 7.71km of road upgrading works.
The interchange is constructed by Arcscale consult in association with the China Bridge reconnaissance and design Institute.
Hon. Carlos Ahenkorah also applauded the minister for the great work done for Ghanaian in terms of road construction to pave more way for drivers and to reduce traffic due to multi road.
He also urged constructors to reform their style of traffic directing and also introduce more traffic directing engineers to help conduct drivers in order to reduce the heavy traffic during day and night due to Road construction ongoing causing less space for drivers.
