President Akufo-Addo has stated that the ongoing negotiations between the government and the International Monetary Fund (IMF), once completed, would have an important impact on the Ghanaian economy both in the short and long term.
The President said this in his opening remarks ahead of a closed door meeting with the leadership of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) at the Jubilee House yesterday, 25 October 2022, to brief them on government’s ongoing negotiations with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and to get their buy-in with regards to the implications of a possible IMF programme on the economy immediately and in the future.
“We are talking and hopefully concluding soon these important negotiations which are going to have, you know as well as I do, an important impact on the way forward for the Ghanaian economy in the months and immediate years ahead,” President Akufo-Addo said.
Mr Humphrey Dake, the President of the AGI, after introducing his delegation, indicated that the AGI is committed to supporting government’s efforts aimed at dealing decisively with the current economic challenges being experienced in the country.
“We recognise your relentless effort to steer our economy to the pride of place and the desire to transform our economy to the best of your ability. We pledge our support that together, we shall resolve the intended difficulties as we so find now,” Humphrey Dake said.
