Education Minister Commended  …Over Prospectus Harmonization

Some Parents in the Kumasi Metropolis have commended the Minister of Education, Dr. Osei Adutwum and the Ghana Education Service for harmonizing and reducing items on the prospectus for senior high school freshers in the 2023/2024

According to them , in spite of the laudable effort by the   government with the introduction of the  Free Senior High School Education  in a bid to support t and less fortunate and the less privileged  to  access secondary education  there   are  some headmasters and headmistresses who  have clandestinely included  some  items on the prospectus, an act that has ballooned the costs of items estimated for students to purchase,  putting  parents and guardians under serious financial stress.

They further revealed that in the past years, they had to go to the schools before they could obtain the prospectus; a move they described as stressful.

They therefore commended the minister for intervening and salvaging the situation.

Background:

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has introduced an initiative called the National Prospectus for Senior High and Technical Schools in the country.

The purpose of this innovation is to provide a standardised prospectus for all prospective first-year students, eliminating any ambiguity regarding their requirements for admission into the various senior high/technical institutions.

Under this new system, all schools are expected to adhere to the national prospectus without imposing any additional items beyond what has been officially prescribed.
