Four fetish women have been dragged before the Pokuase District Police Command for putting fear and panic among elders and youth of the community when they were caught with schnapps pouring libation and razing curses on the land that anybody who goes on the land or follow the Dadeiman chief will die.
The incident, according to sources, put fears and panic in the elders and the youth of Dedeiman who rushed the four (4) fetish women to the Pokuase Police station a couple of days ago.
According to information gathered, the four (4) fetish women Joyce Tackie, Georgina Tagoe, Kate Aryee and Mary Quartey all of Akoto Lamptey, Accra went to Dedeiman in the Ga-West District of the Greater Accra Region where they performed the said ritual.
Their aim, according to sources was about a judgment delivered by an Appeal Court Judge Justice Anthony Oppong on March 23, 2020 that Nana Oppong Odei I who was a Plaintiff in a case before the Court, and who is the Head of Nana Ekua Oyee family has the requisite capacity to sue as a representative of the family.
The Court also ordered that any grant of the land made by the defendant or any member of the Defendant, Akrofi Mpere, family be nullified.
This development did not go down well with factions fighting over the headship of Dadeiman, hence the four fetish women were contracted to rain curses on the land and on whoever is supporting the Chief, Nana Oppong Odei I.
The Pokuase Police Station, Commander Nortey upon interrogating the four suspects who are not natives of Dadeiman, established that they were contracted by one Oppong Tetteh of Russia in Accra to go and perform curses on the town of Dedeiman and attack the people who support the Chief Nana Oppong Odei I.
The four suspects were later released on self-bail and were asked to report on Monday, 11th May 2020, but they all failed to appear before the Police Commander.
The Chief of Dedeiman in an interview warned all land guards sent to Dedeiman by Mpere Family especially Oppong Tetteh to stop coming to the town as the Court has declared Nana Ekua Oyee family owners of the disputed land.
He also warned encroachers of the disputed land to produce their documents for ratification and asked the four (4) fetish women to learn from the incident.
He thank all the people for not taking the law into their own hands but rather taking the four (4) fetish women to the Pokuase police station for amicable solution.
Nana Oppong Odei I said, he is still the chief of Dedeiman as well as the Head of Ekua Oyee family.
The former Head of Nana Ekua Oyee family Madam Sarah Mensah Quarcoo now “Abrewa Tia” said she installed Yaw Okyere Djaba as Head of Aduana Abrade family of Dedeiman and not Head of Nana Ekua Oyee family of Dedeiman.
“Yaw Djaba does not fall within Asabah Quarcoo family known as Nana Ekua Oyee family,” she said.
