The Convener of Black Progressive Party (BPP), Kwadwo Anokye Kankam, has called on government to restructure the Agric sector to boost economic development and food security
According to him, agriculture is the only sector capable of transforming the nation’s economy and said planting of food crops, cash crops and expanding fishing activities across the country would boost local production and export for foreign exchange.
Mr. Kwadwo Anokye Kankam further advocated for the establishment of state-owned enterprises that are fully funded by government, to drive agricultural development.
He also stressed the importance of training more extension and veterinary officers to provide the necessary expertise to support state-led farming initiatives.
“Additionally, he proposed collaboration with traditional leaders to allocate land for state farming projects, ensuring that both the nation and local communities benefit from the agricultural ventures.
Mr. Kankam also criticized the two major political parties in the country,accusing them of failing the nation.
He believes it is time for a new political party to lead the way in rebuilding and transforming the country, with a focus on innovative policies centered on agriculture.
