The Member of Parliament for Dormaa East, Paul Apraku Twum Barimah has indicated that government is really committed and determined to ensure that there is adequate supply of petroleum products across the country.
He therefore called on the good people of Ghana to be rest assured that government is doing everything possible to provide the needed support for adequate supply of petroleum products.
His statement comes days after some reports were released in the media, claiming that Ghana was likely to experience fuel shortage due to the inability of the Bulk oil distribution companies to access dollars from the Bank of Ghana.
Paul Twum Barimah, who is a member of Parliament’s select committee on Mines and Ernergy said government is on top of the issues and is working closely with all the stakeholders in the industry to ensure that fuel is always available and sufficient for all to buys.
He said even though the quantity of diesel available could ‘feed’ the country for up to four weeks while the quantity of petrol in the country’s reserve could last for about six weeks, government is working around the clock to assist BDCs to bring in more fuel in the coming days to beef up stock.
According to Paul Twum Barimah, there are adequate measures in place to ensure constant supply of fuel to meet the demands of consumers.
In a related development, the Public Relations Officer of the National Petroleum Authority Abdul Kudus, has said there “are enough stock to meet domestic demand contrary to speculations in the media.”
He said the NPA was continuously monitoring the weekly schedule of fuel imports to ensure that there was constant supply.
