A Pro-New Patriotic Party (NPP) Group, Western North Grassroot, has called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the leadership of the party, to consider appointing the Member of Parliament (MP) for Akontombra, Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh as the Western North Regional Minister.
According to the group, Alex Djornobuah Tetteh’s appointment to that office would ensure more development in the new region.
The group in a statement indicated that Hon Alex Tetteh had performed creditably well as Deputy Western North Regional Minister and that it will not be out of place to appoint him as the substantive Regional Minister.
The leaders of the Group said, they have promised their people in Western North to make sure the right people are appointed to enhance the party’s electoral fortunes in the Western North Region and Ghana as a whole, come 2024 and beyond.
They believe that the appointment of Hon. Alex Djornobuah Tetteh as the Regional Minister for Western North Region would be a strategic move that would set the tone for the development of the region.
“We have stated irrevocably in our earlier press conference held on Wednesday, 13th January, 2021 that, we want the Western North Region to be part of strongholds for the New Patriotic Party in the coming years, beginning from 2024 general elections. That is why we want Hon. Alex Tetteh to occupy the position of the Regional Minister for Western North Region,” the Group stated.
The said, Hon Alex Tetteh was Constituency Chairman for 12 consecutive years before he became the MP in 2016 and had improved the electoral fortunes of the party since.
“Hon. Alex Tetteh turned the situation around and has possibly widened the margin with the NDC …we can confidently say that the trend in Akontombra is following that of Effutu Constituency in the Central Region led by Hon. Afernyo Markins.”
They averred that the hard work of Hon. Alex Tetteh has earned him the title ‘Nana Sompahene’, which was conferred on him by the Overlord of Sefwi Land, Sefwi Wiawso Manhene, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama.
“We are pleading with the President of the Republic of Ghana to appoint him as the Regional Minister for the good people of the Western North Region for him to bring his experience from Akontombra on board and to also have enough power, together with the Regional Executives of the party, to play a supervisory role in the region. We believe this will help us to maximize votes in the region come 2024 general elections for our great party,” they pleaded and noted that the battle for 2024 starts now.
