A newly formed non-partisan advocacy group called The Independent Parliamentarians Advocacy Group Ghana (IPAGG) has been unveiled in Accra. The group’s mission is to transform Ghana’s political landscape and promote tolerance.
IPAGG is dedicated to promoting and supporting independent parliamentary candidates across all 275 constituencies, advocating for their election as viable non-partisan members of Parliament.
John Yeboah, founder of the group in a statement at the launch disclosed that the initiative aimed at responding to the growing needs of citizens and significant changes in Ghana’s political system.
“By focusing on independent candidates, IPAGG aims to offer an alternative to the traditional party-driven approach that has dominated the country’s politics for years. The group believes that independent candidates can bring fresh perspectives and solutions to the challenges facing Ghana, “he stated.
He also said IPAGG’s further aims at fostering a more inclusive and representative parliamentary system where diverse voices are heard as well as decisions are made in the best interest of the entire nation, free
from partisan influences.
“The group is committed to providing resources, support, and a platform for independent candidates to succeed in the political arena. As the 2024 general elections approach, IPAGG plans to actively engage with voters, stakeholders, and the media to raise awareness about the importance of electing independent candidates, “he stated.
The group. Mr. Yeboah disclosed is also working to ensure that independent candidates have the necessary tools and support to campaign effectively and win seats in Parliament.
According to him, IPAGG hopes to inspire a movement that will lead to a more balanced and accountable political system in Ghana, ultimately contributing to the nation’s democratic growth and development.
