Minister for Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta is still at post as the substantive Minister for Finance, a post on the official X (formerly Twitter) page of the Finance Ministry (Office of the Finance Minister-Ghana) has confirmed.
There have been unsubstantiated rumours on social media and some sections of mainstream media that Ken Ofori-Atta had been relieved of his post or resigned from office on Monday, 18 December 2023.
However, Ofori-Atta laid the rumours to rest when he tweeted expressing his firm assurance in divine leadership and guidance for himself and the staff of the Ministry of Finance in 2024.
“Today I joined the staff of @MoF_Ghana in thanksgiving for God’s mercy & preservation in 2023. I am assured that the Lord will continue to lead and guide us in 2024. Our testimony is indeed victory on every side! Humbled to be leading the brilliant and resilient #TeamMoF #Nissi,” the tweet by Ken Ofori-Atta read.
Ken Ofori-Atta was appointed Minister of Finance by President Akufo-Addo in January 2017 when he assumed office as the 5th President of the 4th Republic. He was reappointed as Finance Minister when President Akufo-Addo got re-elected to office for a second term.
