The Chief of Kwabenya- A-Line in the Ga East Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, Nii Aryee Okofrobour I, has accused the chief executive officer of comet properties, Alex Kyeremateng of creating all the developmental challenges confronting the area.
Unlike other estate developers whose presence in some areas promote and attract development, the Chief alleged that the presence and operations of Mr. Kyeremanteng and his Comet properties in their town has been on the contrary.
The Chief disclosed that the CEO of Comet Properties has been relying on his financial strength to persistently attack residents in a bid to deprive them of their legally acquired properties.
The Chief made this known at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday.
The news conference was held after some police officer who were alleged to have been ordered by the Comet Properties CEO to harass the CEO of El Glory Properties executed their operation
The CEO of El Glory Properties was alleged to be developing his legally acquired land from a piece of land he bought from the Nii Odai Ntow Family of Kwabenya.
Nii Peteprem I described the act by the Comet Properties boss and his men on the workers El Glory as shameful, indicating that the land did not belong to Comet properties.
Nii Peteprem therefore called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Minister of Interior among other heads of agencies to intervene to bring peace to the area.
“We are law abiding people, and we would not put the law into our own hands and face the CEO of Comet properties and his team of security personnel, the Chief stated.
For his part, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of EL Glory Company limited, Nana Oppong Kyekyeku, stated that the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander on several occasions warned the Aburi Commander to stay off the issue since it does not fall within her jurisdiction.
He alleged that the Aburi police Commander was been bribed by Comet Properties, a move he said has pushed her to disrespect the Greater Accra Regional Police Commander.
He also expressed worry about the conduct of the CEO of Comet Properties, for illegally harassing his workers on a land he legally acquired from the Nii Odai Ntow Family Customary Land Secretariat
He added that the Comet properties CEO failed to produce his document to the police for a search over the years now.
He appealed to the IGP and the National Security to intervene in the matter because the police have failed to protect him to commence his work.
According to him, four years ago the then Regional CID requested that both parties produced their guarantor and site plans but Mr. Kyeremateng failed to produce both his guarantor and documents so he Nana Oppong Kyekyeku was directed to go ahead and work but Mr. Kyeremateng wouldn’t let him have peace.
He emphasized that comet properties CEO is hidden behind the Aburi divisional police command.
“I legally acquired the land from the Odai Ntow family of Kwabenya, and I can’t therefore wait to lose a property I have invested so much in, “he lamented.
The legal officer for the Nii Odai Ntow Family Customary Land Secretariat, Mr. Seth Asante Wiafe, hinted that their client EL Glory Company limited purchase 45 acres of land from the Nii Odai Ntow Family Customary Land Secretariat in conjunction with the families.
The Nii Odai Ntow Family was adjudged owners of all the 22, 000 acres of lands in Accra. After a successful meeting with the IGP, the parties were asked to submit their documents and route of title.
The matter was referred to the Greater Regional Police Command and both parties were asked to produce their respective site plans for a search to be conducted at both Greater Accra Lands Commission as well as Eastern Regional Lands Commission.
The search revealed however that, the land is situated in Accra and not the Eastern region.
In view of that, the police asked the Nii Odai Ntow family and their guarantor to go ahead with their work.
Attempts by the family to work on the land proved futile because the police failed to offer the needed protection to the family to take possession of their property.
Meanwhile, all efforts to reach the CEO of Comet Properties before this publication prove futile
