Two young ‘men of God’ in the Kumasi Central Market, in the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi, last Wednesday, publicly engaged inexchange of blows, tearing into shreds each other’s clothes.
The two daily preachers, identified as Evangelist Samuel Kwame Boateng and Evangelist Kwame Poku had been engaging in verbal assaults frequently over offertory from passersby, which degenerated into a public fisticuff, the New Crusading GUIDE learnt.
Samuel Kwame Boateng, according to an eyewitness, said his colleague preacher had been cursing, insulting, casting insinuations, and issuing threats against him every day and even made attempt to attack him physically.
He said he was then advised by one of the women at the market to beat his colleague preacher to call him to order, hence his actions, which rather generated into a fight which onlookers described as shameful.
Evangelist Opoku, narrating his side of the story to some of the market women who had moved to his rescue also described Kwame Boateng as greedy and selfish.
He also blamed his co-man of God for causing the fight saying, “were you expecting me to fold my arms and watch him beat me to pulp, he first attacked me and I don’t see why it was necessary to do so, nobody owns a space here. If it’s the gospel we are all preaching, then we should be happy we are doing God’s bidding, so why the attack?’’, he quizzed.
