‘No Amount Of Intimidation Will Break Our Spirit’

The Minority Leader, Honourable Alexander Afenyo-Markin, yesterday declared that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) would not be cowered by intimidation or political persecution by the government.

Speaking after the debate on the 2025 Budget Statement on the floor of Parliament the Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency in the central region, accused the Mahama government of using state institutions to harass political opponents.

“You can arrest all of us, but we will remain resolute. No amount of intimidation will break our spirit. In 2028, we will defeat you and restore true governance to this country,” he asserted.

He further criticised what he described as the governing party’s misuse of the justice system to silence dissent, arguing that governance should focus on national development rather than political witch-hunting.

“A government that prioritises persecution over progress is bound to fail. Ghanaians are watching, and they will decide in 2028,” he cautioned.

Afenyo-Markin urged his colleagues in the opposition to remain steadfast and not be deterred by what he called “politically motivated arrests.”

He reassured supporters that the Minority remains committed to defending democracy and holding the government accountable.
