The Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party, Richard Ahiagba, has commended farmers for their dedication in food production to feed the theming Ghanaian population, year in, year out.
In an exclusive interview with the new crusading guide, Mr Ahiagba acknowledged the tremendous role played by farmers in averting food shortage in the heat of the escalating food prices amid the many unfavourable global factors.
“Our farmers are committed to what they do, regardless of the challenges they face. They produce enough to feed not just their families but the nation at large and even surpluses for the purposes of exportation which adds up to the nation’s GDP growth and also for the strengthening of the cedi, thus foreign exchange. Ghanaian farmers have strived to make Ghana a food secured nation in the sub region and on the continent and that in itself, can never go unappreciated.” He stated.
“The New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the people of Ghana are proud of their exploits and we say ayekoo. I urge them to continue doing the good work and to also assure them of government’s continuous support for sustainability and further, to increase food production in the country”, he added.
Mr. Ahiagba reiterated, that the NPP government was poised and will never relent in its commitment to also create a conducive environment for the agricultural sector to continually thrive.
The 38th National Farmers’ Day celebrations was held at the Jubilee Park of the Eastern Regional capital, Koforidua on 2nd December 2022 with the theme “Accelerating Agriculture Development through Value Addition”.
The celebration began with an agricultural fair and exhibition on Tuesday, November 29, with the ADB farmers’ forum, and was climaxed with a grand durbar and awards ceremony. The President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, was the Special Guest of Honour.
