The Shai Traditional councils stated it has no working relations with one Asafoatse Teye Jahene who has been accused of unlawfully grabbing and selling lands at Kodiabke and surrounding areas, in Accra.
This declaration was made yesterday at a press conference organised by the chiefs, elders and people of Kodiabe in the Shai traditional area.
Addressing the media, spokesperson for the Shai State, Jaase Tetteh Adabang II of Saisi Clan, indicated that Asafoatse Teye Jahene had initiated a strange and clandestine campaign to encroach on lands that do not belong to him, grab them and illegally sell them without the knowledge of the genuine owners.
According to Jaase Tetteh Adabang II, their current land size is over 150, 000 acres. Interestingly Asafoatse Teye Jahene had secretly and unlawfully developed a geographic plan claiming ownership of over 100,000 acres out of their land size.
The plan covered lands in Jorpanya through the entirety of Kordiabe, Agomeda, Luom, Bondase and some portions of Doryumu lands claiming them as his; meaning he is taking over the entire town of Shai.
Jaase Tetteh Adabang II, further said “He went ahead to submit the plan to the lands commission for registration. This resulted in the commission contacting us for immediate attention that someone is trying to possess our lands. The very moment we saw his plans at the lands commission, we had to contact our lawyers about his actions. Our lawyers wrote to the lands commission, informing them of his unlawful attempt to claim ownership and possession of these lands which caused the commission to reject his application for the registration of the lands.”
Giving the true state of the fact, Jaase Tetteh Adabang II mentioned that in the later years of 2007, the owner of Sun City was issued a writ of summons to appear before the court by Asafoatse Teye Jahene who claimed ownership of the land.
That, he said made the family surprise and suspicious and therefore went to the court to study and monitor the case. During the proceedings, Asafoatse Jahene was asked to submit documents and show ownership of the land but he failed to provide any genuine document.
He indicated that due to the delays in the court proceedings, the developers paid him off.
“Asafoatse Teye Jahene is therefore using that as a caveat to usurp our land” The family is therefore admonishing the general public not to engage Asafoatse Teye Jahene korabo IV and his agents in any land transaction. If you purchase any land from him, you do so at your own risk. “We are also asking the lands registration division to stop registering the entire Shai Land that do not belong to Asafoatse Teye Jahene korabo IV.”
