President John Dramani Mahama has announced an upward adjustment in the salary structure of the Ghana Armed Forces, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of security personnel.
According to the President, the new salary scales will take effect in March 2026, with arrears for January and February to be paid in the same month.
Delivering what he described as “tidings of great joy,” President Mahama said the decision reflects government’s recognition of the sacrifices and dedication of military personnel in safeguarding the nation.
“The welfare of our personnel remains a top priority,” he stated, adding that government fully supports initiatives aimed at improving the wellbeing of service members and their families.
He highlighted plans for a mutual health fund to enhance healthcare access and financial security for personnel, noting that seed funding for the health, trust and welfare funds will be provided by the National Security Secretariat.
President Mahama also expressed appreciation to Mr Kofi Appiah, Chief Executive Officer of All Day Ventures, for his support towards the initiative, describing it as a noble contribution to the welfare of the armed forces.
He concluded by assuring personnel that the announcement would be received with “great joy,” as government continues to prioritise their needs.
