The Chief of Dawu in the Okere District of Akuapem in the Eastern Region, Odeneho Asare Akyeahene III, is reported to have allegedly attempted to change a court ruling last week in favour of one of his subject despite several warnings by stakeholders that his verbal orders to change the ownership of a land that had been on ruled by a court was detrimental and deadly to the peace of this country.
It would be recalled that Odeneho Asare Akyeahene III, on 17th of September 2022, summoned two parties, one Opanin Brahm and Kofi Pobi over ownership of a land Kofi Pobi wanted Opanin Brahm to assist in demarcating the land and Opanin Brahm refused with the reason that Kofi Pobi had no land in the area and that the piece of land Kofi Pobi was claiming did not belong to him.
According to Opanin Brahm, the case over the piece of land was contested in court as far back as 2001 and by 2007, seven long years on, a magistrate court in Koforidua gave a final ruling. The Court ruled against Kofi Pobi in favour of Samuel Adu Koranteng (late).
Kofi Pobi, after losing the case in court in 2007 never contested or appealed against the ruling only to return with a sermon from the Chief of Dawu that Opanin Brahm had refused to demarcate the said land.
The chief of Dawu was told in the presence of all the parties that the case involving the land had gone through full trial for seven years and that Kofi Pobi had lost the case. He even asked Kofi Pobi if he lost the case in court and Kofi Pobi answered yes; but the Chief of Dawu still insisted that the demarcation should go ahead.
He (Chief of Dawu) was therefore told by the children of the late Samuel Adu Koranteng, who are custodians, genuine, and the legally recognised owners of the land that he was delving into a slippery ground of contempt of court, but he ignored.
This compelled the genuine owners of the land to accuse him of taking bribe and trying to abuse the law and the high court ruling and encourage injustice which is very dangerous to the peace, and justice and have thus vowed to site the Dawuhene for contempt of court.
