The National Security and the Ghana Police Service have been notified about some rising tensions at Asamankese over an impending celebration of the Obuodwan festival, a move that is likely to result in a serious chieftaincy clashes between feuding parties and fatalities.
Sources have hinted that the situation if not curbed by the security services could lead to fatalities as a section of the feuding parties prepare for the celebration of the banned festival.
Sources indicate that residents and some inhabitants living in the area have started relocating to other villages and towns due to fear of attacks and expected reprisals.
Some of these residents in an interview explained that due to the Chieftaincy issues in Asamankese, they would ignore invitation to the banned festival to save their lives.
The Royal Abrade Akua Korang Lineage of the Abrade family says it has the right to the throne and has rightfully enstooled and inaugurated a true Royal as the Chief of Asamankese on the 20th of December, 2021 and since then, the Royal family was not challenged by the Queen mother nor her son Kwesi Obeng who initially styled himself as Osabarima Adu Darko III.
Interestingly, reports are emerging that the Queen mother and her son, Kwesi Obeng attempt to 3rd December every year and are stopped every in the process.
“We are therefore calling on the IGP, President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo, and ministry in charge of Chieftaincy to intervene, prevent and stop such an event.” they added.
Meanwhile they are calling for peace and tranquillity as Asamankese is a law abiding town and that is the reason peace must always prevail. The Asamankese residents are calling on sponsors of this year’s unlawful Ɔboɔdwan festival to desist and save their money and product.
