The government of Ghana has taken a significant step towards empowering the country’s youth by allocating GH₵110 million for the Adwumawura Programme, a transformative initiative designed to tackle youth unemployment and catalyze innovation.
The programme, launched by President John Dramani Mahama on April 28, aims to create, mentor, and support at least 10,000 businesses annually, targeting young Ghanaians between the ages of 18 and 35. Beneficiaries will receive comprehensive support, including entrepreneurship training, access to startup capital, cutting-edge equipment, and expert business mentorship.
Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, announced the allocation during the Government Accountability Series, stating that it underscores the government’s dedication to empowering young Ghanaians through strategic job creation and entrepreneurship initiatives.
