Prez. Mahama to undertake three-day State visit to Zambia

President John Dramani Mahama will embark on a three-day State visit to the Republic of Zambia from February 4 to 6, 2026, at the invitation of President Hakainde Hichilema.

He will be accompanied by the First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama.

During the visit, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral discussions with President Hichilema focused on strengthening diplomatic ties, expanding trade and investment cooperation, and exploring new opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

The visit was announced in a statement signed by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu.

A major highlight will be President Mahama’s address to the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to present Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa. He will also meet members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka.

The programme includes a Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue, co-chaired by Presidents Mahama and Hichilema. The forum will enable Ghana to showcase its digital innovation, fintech solutions, and technology-driven services to Zambian businesses and public institutions, aimed at deepening economic cooperation and knowledge exchange.

According to the Presidency, the State Visit reflects President Mahama’s commitment to promoting regional integration through improved transport links, expanded intra-African trade, and the free movement of people and goods.

President Mahama continues to champion the accelerated implementation of the AfCFTA, describing it as critical to economic transformation, job creation for Africa’s youth, and enhancing the continent’s global competitiveness.

Ahead of the Zambia trip, President Mahama will depart Accra on Sunday, February 1, 2026, for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates to attend the World Governments Summit 2026, scheduled for February 2 to 4, at the invitation of the UAE leadership.

He will travel aboard a special aircraft provided by the Ruler of the UAE, which will also convey him and his delegation to Zambia for the State Visit.
