The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of “Give to Life Charity Organization”, a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Madam Dorcas Dadzie, has called on stakeholders to help support and improvement girl child education in deprived areas.
The improvement of girl child education can be achieved through collective efforts between the Government, individuals and other philanthropists win the country and beyond.
Interacting with the media at the Ghana Army Mess at 37 in Accra over the weekend, Dorcas Dadzie noted that most schools in deprived communities are still limited and lack access to new learning techniques and therefore ought to be to supported.
Mrs. Dadzie, a Sweden-based Ghanaian said that a research conducted by her outfit indicated that most school children in the rural areas turn out to be school drop outs.
She further noted that most of the children in the rural areas prefer activities such as okada riding business due to ignorance.
Mrs. Dadzie said that her organisation is looking for other avenues where institutions and individuals can also come in to support them in their quest to raise the standard of living of children in deprived communities.
She also noted that most parents in deprived communities are peasant farmers who find it difficult to invest in their wards education.
She therefore appealed to the government, individuals and other NGOs help to establish a vocational training centre and markets for farmers to help them raise money for their children’s education.
For her part, the Matron of the Foundation, Mrs Anne Marie, said “even though slum dwellers are illegal occupants, their children must be supported to enable them enjoy their constitutional rights which include access to quality education.
She therefore called on government to help establish schools in such areas to enable them access education.
Children, she said are the future leaders of the country and therefore needed to be prepared for their future tasks for the benefit of the nation.
