Gunmen wearing police uniforms and claiming to be National Security operatives attacked the Kwahu Paramount Chief’s Palace at Abene around 4 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2025.
Residents say they heard several gunshots from within the palace before the assailants allegedly abducted the Kwahuhemaa, Nana Adwoa Gyemfua, who was present at the time.
The attackers also seized the Paramount Chief’s official Toyota Land Cruiser, which tracking information shows is heading toward Accra.
The reason behind the raid and the Queenmother’s abduction is still unknown. Both the Nkawkaw and Kwahu Divisional Police Commands have denied any knowledge of an authorized operation by personnel claiming to be from National Security.
Citi News sources report heightened fear among residents, who say the attack comes amid ongoing tensions linked to the Kwahu chieftaincy disputes.
Authorities have yet to issue an official statement. Investigations are underway, and further updates are expected as the situation unfolds.
