The National Democratic Congress (NDC) is facing tough times ahead of the 2020 elections as chiefs of Awutu Traditional Council in the Awutu Senya West District have expressed anger at the party and it parliamentary candidate, Gizella Tetteh, threatening to ban them from campaigning on their land for peddling lies about them.
The angry chiefs indicated that, the NDC led by its Communication Officer, Kewku Ampong issued a press released that alleged that, the chief and the people of Awutu Traditional Council hooted their Member of Parliament, George Andah, during the climax of 2019 Awutu Awubia Festival.
But according to the Acting President of Awutu Traditional Council, Nai Pobi Abundam, the people of the area never hooted at George Andah as claimed by Kweku Ampong.
He said nothing of that sort happened during the climax of the festival, and that they were surprised the NDC party could peddle such falsehood about them and tarnish the image of their festival.
Nai Abundam in a statement to that effect, threatened to ban NDC and their Parliamentary Candidates Gizella Tetteh, who is the j junior sister of Hannah Tetteh from their land if the party fails to appear before the traditional council to answer questions relating to the hooted statement within 24 hours.
Nai Abundam called on NDC party to stop the propaganda and the lies they have started spreading in the district or face political doom in 2019.
Meanwhile, Adontene of Awutu Traditional Council Nai Ncharkey Okai said, the chiefs and the people of Awutu were surprised at the attitude of the junior sister of Hannah Tetteh, Gizella Tetteh for starting her political carrier with lies and propaganda.
“On a more serious note, the planning committee and the entire Traditional Council is calling on the of leadership of theft NDC to call their legal Communications Director to order to stop spreading such lies a falsehoods that bring the name of the Awutu State into disrepute,” he stated.
They called on Kweku Ampong to retract the false publication and apologise to the people of Awutu.
