The Anti-Counter Terrorism Operation Team from the Greater Accra Regional Police Command has arrested some six persons believed to be notorious landguards after they have butchered, brutalized and shot one Masawudu Swallah.
They include; Matahta, Tairu Faisal a.k.a. Tiny, Abdul Fatawu Mustapha, Jordan and three others.
The six were arrested on Friday at about 12 noon when the police received a tip off about the incident at Pantang Hospital land site where the land guards had butchered and shot their victim.
The police team also discovered that the victim, Masawudu Swallah was also stabbed with a knife and his head hit with a concrete block
The victim’s motor bike was also burnt at the site.
The police upon the arrest retrieved Cutlasses, weapons, and bullet proof vest from the land guards at the Pantang land site.
According to the police, the victim was said to have gone to the site to interrogate the land guards who had come to the land which belongs to the Afutu Brempong family of Teshie, when he was brutally attacked by the six persons who claimed they were protecting the said land from Jeleel Company operates by Ambrose Ahmed and Jeffrey Jerry, brothers of the Interior Minister Hon Ambrose Dery and were operating on the orders of the minister.
According to reports from residents, the constant attacks by the land guards who fired weapons on each and every day at the land site compelled the family to seek further assistance from the Accra Regional Police Commander which led to the arrest.
The land guards, according to residents of Pantang have been on the land since the past three months as both Ahmed Ambrose and Jeffrey Jerry deployed the six notorious land guards to the site to keep watch and to physically manhandle anyone found on the site.
The case which was reported to the Adenta police and the Accra Regional police command, but have since the President directive been faced with the challenge of maintaining peace and order on the Pantang lands area due to the President directives to ensure the control of the Covid -19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, all efforts by some big wigs to seek bail for the notorious land guards have proved futile as the Accra Regional Police Commander, DCOP Edu Ennim continues to stand on the legal position to put the suspects before a Court of competent jurisdiction for trial.
However, police investigation is ongoing as the suspects and their leaders continue to issue threats of death on the Residents and land owners of the Pantang land.
