The 2026 edition of the annual Bomukye Sustainable Cocoa Festival Celebration for the chiefs and people of Amanase within the Ayensuano District in the Eastern region is slated to kick start from 7 to 15 February.
The festival is celebrated to mark the significant role played by cocoa in Ghana’s development.
The Amanase Bomukye festival is also celebrated by the chiefs and people to remember their ancestors and also foster unity among themselves.
This year’s celebration, which is expected to attract hundreds of people globally, would be under the theme, “Sustaining cocoa production in a wake of galamsey.”
In his address at the launching ceremony over the weekend, the chief of Amanase, Osabarima Etuobefom Asare Panin, was hopeful this year’s celebration would be a memorable one than expected.
He called on the people of Amanase to bury their differences and make room for a peaceful celebration.
“I’m pleading to all corporate organisations and individuals to assist us financially for a successful celebration,” the chief appealed.
The Amanase chief underscored the need for Ghanaians to ensure that our various forests were protected from illegal mining.
“We cannot allow galamsey to have negative effect on our water bodies as a country,” Osabarima Asare Panin disclosed.
He advised the teeming youth in the county to go into agriculture rather than involving themselves in illegal mining.
For his part, the Planning Committee Secretary, Godfred Obeng, assured that the celebration would be done peacefully to help preserve the already existing unity in the community.
The Planning Committee Secretary disclosed that several activities have been outlined to make the celebration a memorable one.
