The General Secretary of the opposition NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has indeed exhibited to the entire nation his inability to wane himself from the age of politics of lies as he continues to peddle falsehood against the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in his bid to win cheap political points for his party which is still struggling to wake from the heavy defeat of 2016.

General Mosquito who was speaking at the party’s unity walk in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region, last Saturday claimed President Nana Akfuo-Addo in the 2016 elections promised Ghanaian youths marriage and that “Now you know what is coming,” he asked rhetorically. “I won’t talk about it,” but later, at the same event, falsely alleged that “Nana Addo says men will marry men, and women will marry women.”

The presidency, in a response however, has described as ‘baseless’ reports that President Akufo-Addo has legalized same-sex marriage in the country.

In a statement released and signed by the Director of Communications at the Presidency, Eugene Arhin, the same the NDC chief scribe made the allegation, the presidency condermned in no uncertain terms that such pronouncements from Asiedu Nketia were nothing but a baseless and vile fabrication.

The statement stressed that “President Akufo-Addo has NEVER stated anywhere that, under his presidency, “men will marry men, and women will marry women”
“Indeed, the President remains focused on delivering on his mandate, and improving on the quality of lives of the Ghanaian people. It will NOT be under his Presidency that same-sex marriage will be legalized in Ghana.”

The office of the President however stated said it will neither ask for an apology or retraction from the NDC General Secretary, who, “obviously, is still stuck in the age of the politics of lies, deceit and propaganda, which was rejected decisively by discerning Ghanaians in the 2016 general elections. We will rather appeal to Ghanaians to, once again, ignore the falsehoods of the NDC, and urge Mr. Asiedu Nketiah to concentrate his energies on uniting his divided and discredited party.”

Gay promoters, in the last few days, have been raising dust, pressuring the President  to declare his stance on gay marriage after he claimed last year in an Aljazeera interview that homosexuality in Ghana was bound to happen.

He said in the interview that homosexuality was a social-cultural issue, adding that there had not been sufficiently strong coalition that had impacted public opinion on the need to legalize gay marriage.

“These the socio-cultural issues if you like. I don’t believe in Ghana so far, a sufficiently strong coalition has emerged which is having that impact on public opinion that would say ‘change it, let have a new paradigm in Ghana,” he said.

It is the President’s statement that the NDC scribe decided to make political business with this and tried as much as he could to make false interpretations of the President’s position on the matter just to hoodwink the masses into buying into their vile propaganda of lies.
