Some members of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT) who were expelled from the union for petitioning the Police to investigate the misconduct of the President and his secretary have refused to go and threatened to petition the special Prosecutor Martin Amidu over the issue

The petitioners want the Special prosecutor to take over the case after the Police CID failed to release the report of their investigations and further prosecute the accused persons.

The petitioners accused the Police of refusing to release the report of their investigations that is implicating the accused persons, King Ali Awudu and his General Secretary, Herbert Ako Forson, who were alleged to have presented an imposter as executives of the coalition and helped him secure a visa to Switzerland.

The Petitioners made this known days after they were suspended from the union by the implicated executives.

“We are sad that  such a thing will be happening in Ghana, a country that prides itself as a hub of freedom and Justice. It’s been over one year since investigations began into this case, even the deputy minister of sports, Pius Hadjide, and other senior officials of the sports council who were accused in the Australia Visa Fraud allegations has been suspended. Our case has been with the Police for over a year and they keep telling us stories. The last time we heard they were sending the accused persons to court was about four months ago. As we speak prosecution has not even commenced. This is sad and awful”.

“The President of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers recently bought a ford expedition and other executives are wasting our dues on expensive saloon cars just because they know authorities that are supposed to audit or monitor them have been compromised”.

“We are now working out measures to petition the special prosecutor to take over the case and do thorough investigation. We believe that with the special prosecutor nobody can compromise them in the delivery of their duties.”

The allegation is that some Executives of the association connived to secure a Swiss Visa for someone who is not one of them to travel for an international conference that was supposed to be attended by the Executives of the Coalition. The members therefore accused their leaders of using the association for Visa Racketeering, an act they believe defeats the principles and objectives of its formation.

According to our information, the president of the Association, Mr. King Ali Awudu, connived with the General Secretary, Mr. Herbert Ako Forson to introduce one Mark Ansah as the Ashanti Regional secretary of the Coalition of Concerned Teachers to the Embassy of Switzerland in Ghana.

They wrote a formal Letter to the Embassy in Accra requesting that a Swiss Visa be granted to Mr Ansah to enable him participate the 106th Session of the International Labour Conference of the International Labour Organization (ILO) in Geneva, Switzerland. The conference started on June 12 and ended on June 16, 2017.  It has been established that Mark Ansah is not the General Secretary of the coalition and failed to return to Ghana after the conference.

It was gathered further that the all expenses on the trip was borne with funds from the Coalition’s coffers which is made up of contributions of its members.

The Letter to the Swiss High Commission dated, May 15, 2017, with reference number CCT-GH/HQ/VISA/15/5/17, and Titled “LETTER OF INTRODUCTION –MR. MARK ANSAH: PARTICIPATION IN THE 106TH SESSION OF THE INTERNATIONAL LABOUR ORGANIZATION (ILO) GENEVA SWITZERLAND FROM 5TH -16TH JUNE 2017,” reads in part

“…we will like to introduce to you Mr Mark Ansah, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the coalition of concerned Teachers, Ghana.

“Mr Ansah will participate in the 106th session of the international Labour Conference of the international Labour Organization (ILO), Geneva Switzerland from 5th -16th June 2017 as part of the workers delegation from Ghana.

We would be grateful if you could issue him the relevant visa to enable him participate in the conference…

“For further information, please contact the General Secretary and the Union Mr Ako Forson Herbert on akoforson@gmail.com.

We are counting on your cooperation.

Yours Faithfully,

Coalition of Concerned Teachers.”
