Workers of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation (BOST) Company have petitioned their Board Chairman to initiate investigation into allegations that the Managing Director, George Mensah Okley, has been using “hired armed robbers to terrorize some of the company’s managers”.
In an anonymous petition delivered to the Board Chairman and leaked to the media, it stated that in recent times the “MD’s misconduct” in terms of management of the affairs of the company had been met with stiffer opposition from some key members of administration leading to altercations at some points.
The anonymous petitioners alleged that the MD has been employing all kinds of tactics including victimization and all sorts of threats in his bid to cower the workers to make room for his “mischief”.
It said, “We have had to make this allegations anonymously because the last time a member of the Workers Union reported the MD to the Board Chairman, the worker’s name was mentioned to Mr. Mensah thereby exposing the worker to bare face victimization”.
“Truthfully, the threats have brought about suspicions within a section of the workers that the robbery attacks on the General Manager (GM), the HR and Admin all in a roll recently may have its root from within the BOST”, the petition indicated.
The statement urged the “Board Chairman to call the managers (GM, HR and Admin) involved in the robbery attacks individually and collect testimonies from them about threats that the MD issued to them before they were robbed.”
Mr. George Okley is also alleged to have warned that if he is removed from his position on account of the petition from any staff he would wage voodoo war against whoever causes his removal.
They said, “at least three alleged girlfriends of the MD including (names withheld) one who is still on probation is said to have been promoted to B3 step 6 even though staffs who have been with BOST for periods ranging between five to nineteen years continue to remain on B2 and B3. Another (name withheld), was recently employed as an officer and got promoted to Manager after two months. The last lady also got upgraded higher than usual and moved from three different departments at because the lady has been picky and choosey about the office she wants to work at.”
According to the statement, Mr. Okley’s stewardship has been fraught with alleged corruption and inexplicable payments including the controversial payment of $3,000,000 to Springfield Energy against BOST’s own solicitors’ advice.
In addition, the MD is also alleged to be giving numerous travel opportunities to the workers he brought for training abroad at the expense of long serving and qualified workers.
In a separate interview with the BOST MD to ascertain the veracity or otherwise of the allegations, Mr. Okley said that he had not been copied so could not speak to the matter.
