The New Crusading GUIDE Newspaper, in our Wednesday, 30th September, 2026, edition published a story under the headline; “From 10 to 38 Contractors: How TDC MD Nunekpeku’s Housing Deal Stinks,” which echoed unsubstantiated allegations contained in a petition dated 9th September 2026, against the Managing Director of TDC, Courage Kweku Makafui Nunekpeku and the management of Tema Development Company (TDC) Ghana Limited.
Upon further review of the publication by our management and publishers-Kweku Baako Media Limited, we acknowledge that the story was defamatory and did not give the Managing Director, Mr Courage Kweku Makafui Nunekpeku, an opportunity to respond to the allegations before the story was published. We admit that the story fell short of the standards of fairness and balance expected in responsible journalism.
We also concede that allegations contained in the petition are unsubstantiated and do not, by themselves, establish guilt, wrongdoing, or the commission of an offence by Mr Courage Kweku Makafui Nunekpeku,
The publication should therefore not have presented the allegations in a manner that could be understood as establishing culpability before the claims had been properly tested and the affected parties given an opportunity to respond.
The New Crusading GUIDE sincerely acknowledge our shortcomings and regret the manner in which the story was handled, and apologise unreservedly to Mr Nunekpeku, TDC Ghana Limited and all persons affected by the publication for any distress, embarrassment or reputational harm caused.
We reaffirm our commitment to fairness, accuracy, responsible journalism and the fundamental principle that every person is entitled to be heard before serious allegations, in this case, unsubstantiated, concerning them are published as fact.
