Ayikuma Police Station Chief Turns Debt Collector

The Officer in -charge of the Ayikuma Police Station, near Dodowa in the Greater Accra Region, Inspector Akoto Nelson, has been accused of abandoning his work and turning himself to a debt collector in the area.
The Inspector, according to information, has abandoned his position as a crime fighter and rather, allegedly using his position to harass people who are indebted in communities in the area.
Narrating his ordeal to this reporter, an aged community member in the area, Dr. Seth Tetteh indicated that “Inspector Akoto Nelson has been giving me sleepless night over an amount of money I owned a chief Priest known as Kwadjo who happens to be a relative of the police inspector”.
He indicated that the police chief has on several occasions been visiting his home late in the night fully armed and threatening to kill him if he fails to settled the debt on time
“The chief priest healed me of my sickness few months ago and demanded a cow which I promised to pay later but the priest reported me to the police chief to chase me for the money” he stated.
He also indicated that after making a commitment by paying GHc200 out of the said GHc1, 900, owned to the chief priest, Inspector Nelson ordered his men to seize his car and park it at the police station till he was done with the settlement.
He further accused Inspector Nelson of harassing people of their own properties which has on several occasions led to chaos within communities in the area.
Meanwhile, when contacted, Inspector Akoto Nelson denied all the allegations saying, he does not relate to the chief priest and was just acting as a civilian.
He however admitted having the case in his custody but was quick to state that he has never chased Dr. Tetteh for any money.
“Am only here to work for the good people of this area and Ghana at large, please call Dr. Tetteh to quickly come over to the station and pick his car away because I don’t want any trouble” he said to this report via telephone.
Latest information available to this paper as at the time of filling this report indicated that, Dr. Tetteh was last night attacked in his house by a gang of ten (10) strong men for reporting the incidence to the media.
