The Ablekuma Central Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was, yesterday, set agog when a Deputy Director of Commination’s at the office of the President, Jefferson Sackey filed his nomination forms to contest the parliamentary seat on the ticket of the ruling party.
The crowd which involved Electoral area coordinators, polling station executives, past and current constituency executives’ youth, traditional leaders as well as the aged chanted were very happy seeing Mr. Sackey’s readiness to contest the seat on the ticket of the NPP.
The people believe Mr. Sackey is the best candidate that can wrestle the seat from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and also win more votes for the NPP.
They displayed placards bearing the attributes and traits of Jefferson Sackey while jubilantly singing and dancing.
Radiating confidence, Jefferson Sackey donned a striking white ensemble and graciously acknowledged the enthusiastic crowd for their display of unconditional love, support and belief in the New Energy Agenda.
In his address, Mr Sackey urged the crowd to be united and engage in decent campaign to avert the situation that caused the party’s defeat in the 2020 elections.
He was optimistic that with unity the NPP will recapture the Ablekuma Central parliamentary seat from the NDC.
Mr. Sackey pledged to continue supporting Polling Station Executives with the introduction of policies that will lessen their burden.
Mr. Sackey was introduced to the Crowd by the Former Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Mr. Okuley Nortey to signify his potential of wininv the seat for the NPP in the 2024 elections.
About Mr. Jefferson Sackey:
Mr. Jefferson Sackey is a multiple award-winning Ghanaian jornalist, Media Consultant, Film Maker, and PR Strategist. He served as the Media Relations Officer to the Foreign Ministry while President Akufo-Addo served as Ghana’s Foreign Minister during President Kufuor’s administration.
His professional media career started with TV Africa in Accra as a news reporter, travelling to conflict zones around Africa and bringing out stories on the programme “International Assignment”. He served as the West African Correspondent for the German media giant DWTV for close to four years and was a contributor to CNN world View in Liberia.
In 2011, he was hired by the Multimedia group to help boost its listenership on the Midday News having served the network with special reports.
In 2015, he was appointed the Vice President of Afroglobal Television in Canada, having won the 2015 Planet Africa award for media excellence.
What people may not know is that Jefferson Sackey has been the brain behind many of the President’s media image especially when it comes to video documentaries. His 2008 Docie “Pushing the Ghanaian and African Agenda” revealed then candidate Akufo-Addo’s significant role in the J. A. Kufuor Government as Foreign Minister, as a mediator of conflicts in war torn countries around the world, pushing the Ghanaian agenda internationally including conflicts in Lebanon, Liberia and Ivory Coast.
Before the 2020 general elections he led in the production of a number of series including “The First Term, Story of a Working President” and “Leadership of Service, The so Far” which uniquely told the success stories of government.
Until his new appointment as Deputy Director of Communications at the Ofrice of the President, Jefferson Sackey served as a Technical Advisor and Head of Preductions at the Jubilee House and also Presented a weekly TV series ” The Presidential Diary” which highlights the Presidents weekly activities.
Jefferson has contributed significantly to several social Programmes in the constituency especially within the New Patriotic Party
Last Thursday, as part of his Educational Support Programme, mindful of the challenges faced by students, he came to the aid of BECE Candidates at the Laterbiokorshie Basic School, Laterbiokorshie Presbyterian School and CANS Basic School at Mataheko in the Ablekuma Central Constituency by providing free mathematical sets for their Basic Education Certificate Examination on Monday.
Earlier this year, the Jefferson Care Education Support Programme donated three thousand Exercise books which were distributed to school children in the constituency.
- He has injected GhS100,000 *(One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis)* into the *Jefferson Care Women Empowerment Fund* to serve as interest-free soft loans for petty traders and small scale business women in the Ablekuma Central Constituency (Starting with PSE’s)
- He is donating *GHS10,000* to each of the seven electoral areas in Ablekuma Central, under the Jefferson Sackey Welfare Support Programme. Adwenbu, Abossey Okai , Mabrouk and Gbortsui have already benefited from the Ghs70,000 welfare support program with the rest to soon benefit.
- He donated welfare cards to be presented to all Polling Station Executives across the 7 Electoral Areas.
- Under his Jefferson Care Health for All Programme over 1,600 party faithfuls have been registered onto the National Health Insurance Scheme across all seven Electoral Areas
- He has donated 200 chairs to the party to be shared to the respective Electoral Areas to be used by party people during meetings.
- He donated an amount of ghc 5,000 to some NPP volunteer groups in the constituency to augment their efforts.
- Has supported various interest groups including *EROFAM* with interest free loans for petty trading Polling Station Executives and *PADMO* with welfare support.
- He has helped in the Payment of Rent, School Fees of Polling Station Executives and wards of some known Party people.
- He has supported and continue to support social programs in the constituency
- Helped over 30 constituents into the police service as Community Assistant Police with 15 under training at the moment
- Supported Ablekuma Central Youth Wing with a donation of Gh¢15,000.
- Donated a motorbike to the NPP Constituency Office to be used in daily running of the Party’s activities.
- Donated and Installed Ceiling Fans in all classrooms of the New Abossey Okai Basic School.
- He has shown real commitment to youth and sports by providing Jerseys and continues to support the ABC Youth Soccer team.
- He has launched the ABC Inter-Electoral Area Soccer Cup, which will be an annual event to promote sports and unity within the party.
- Donated Megaphones to the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association boost communications in Abossey Okai.
