The Municipal Chief Executive Officer of Ablekuma North in the Greater Accra Region (MCE) Hon. Kofi Ofori has expressed gratitude to President Akufo Addo for the opportunity given to him to serve as the MCE for the past two years under the ruling New Patriotic Party government.
According to him, under his leadership as the MCE, he has worked towards the development of the Municipality with a plethora of completed and ongoing projects.
He expressed profound appreciation to the Assembly Members, Traditional Authorities, Heads of Departments, and other relevant stakeholders for their immense cooperation and support.
Mr. Ofori submitted that there are dozens of problems facing the municipality after its creation two years ago and has assured people in the municipality to calm down as they solve these issues one after the other.
According to him, the municipality has faced some challenges particularly roads, drains, and others but said plans are on board to get rid of those problems confronting the area.
Revealing that, works are ongoing in the bid to get befitting road networks in the area and are very certain that the poor road in the municipality will be done by close of the year as the President, Akufo – Addo insists this year is meant for roads.
Mr. Ofori, therefore, appealed to the people to exercise patience as they try to get things done in the area.
Having created the municipality two years ago, the MCE lamented they are still young and is of the view that once they have started from somewhere they will surely get to where they deserve.
The MCE added that revenue collection has also been one of the problems confronting the municipality but said having made the people aware of what they are being used for, they have cooperated in paying revenue.
As part of measures to empower the youth in the Ablekuma North Municipality, he said the assembly has supported the majority of the youths to undergo a year-long training in entrepreneurial skills development.
The beneficiaries, the numbering was trained in beads and soap making, as well as make-up and decoration setups.
As part of the exercise, they were also supported with start-up capital and starter packs to enable them to begin operations with their newly acquired skills.
Touching on Education, he said the assembly succeeded in securing government scholarships for 28 students who were currently in the tertiary institutions.
Also, he said six-unit classroom blocks with ancillary facilities at Kwashieman and the Odorkor 4 and 5 cluster of schools were constructed respectively.
Mr. Ofori called on stakeholders in the area to assist the assembly in ensuring development in the municipality
Reacting to claims that he is not on good terms with some party members, he downplayed those assertions indicating they are working together as a team
