The efforts by the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, and the Greater Regional Coordinating Council (GARCC) to beautify the city of Accra have been applauded by hundreds of prominent personalities in Ga-Dangme communities.
And key among them is the Paramount Chief of Ga Traditional Area, His Royal Majesty, King TackieTeikoTsuru II, who has backed the regional minister’s moves to make Accra clean.
According to the Overlord of Ga State, the ongoing decongestion exercise being carried out by the task force of the Greater Accra Regional Coordinating Council at Agbogbloshie market to relocated scrap dealers and onion sellers to AdjenKotoku market by the government by July 1, 2021, as part of the “Let’s Make Accra work” campaign by the Greater Accra regional minister, was absolutely in the right direction.
In this regard, King TackieTeikoTsuru II assured the minister that all well-meaning Ga-Dangmes were solidly behind him in his efforts to complement the vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to make Accra the cleanest city in Africa.
“You must continue with the good works unperturbed. You have our unflinching support,” the Ga Mantse urged Mr Quartey, who doubles as the Member of Parliament (MP) of Ayawaso Central in the Greater Accra Region.
MrQuratey has been embarking on a series of exercises to decongest the capital city, Accra.
And as part of these exercises, onion sellers at Agbogbloshie have been moved to AdjenKotoku, a decision that was fiercely resisted by some of the sellers.
However, briefing the media in Accra on Saturday July 3, 2021 to support the “Let’s Make Accra Work,” campaign championed by the regional minister,” King TackieTeikoTsuru II said he has “noticed with delight, the firmness with which Honourable Henry Quartey was going about the decongestion exercise in Accra.
He added that “Honourable Minister, your combination of tenacity, tact and diplomacy in ensuring sanity in Accra needs much support and appreciation from all.
He maintained: “I want to assure you that all well-meaning Ga-Dangmes were solidly behind you. Continue with the good works. You have our unflinching support.”
According to him, a call to national duty was a call to serve in the interest of the people.
He stated that sometimes even the same people “you serve bring obstacles on your way for various reasons but do not let them pull you back and distract you.”
“Be assured that what is right is always right. We appreciate your efforts and we are ready to assist you in any way to ensure the desired results of bringing sanity and beautification of Accra were achieved,” he averred.
“On my behalf and on behalf of the good people of Ga-Dangme, we say AYEKOO TSULOR KPAKPA. We are very proud of you, a great son of Ga-Dangme and a servant of the people,” the chief expressed.
The Ga Mantse called for God’s blessings and protection for Mr Quartey to enable him bring sustainable development to the Ga State.
