Two pastors of the pastoral council of the Christian Divine Church of Ghana (CDC) have allegedly received hefty slaps from one James Kofi Digberen, the darling boy of the embattled Chairman of the Church, Apostle Ebenezer Boahene, at the Church’s headquarters at Tarkwa in the Western Region.
The slaps which landed on the cheeks of the ministers of the gospel came after the children of the chairman allegedly, verbally assaulted the men of God for their persistent protest against the continue stay in office by the chairman, despite the fact that his tenure as the leader of the church elapsed some four years ago.
The pastoral council of the Christian Divine church led by its secretary, Senior Pastor Andrews Antwi, had directed all pastors of the council to attend an emergency meeting at the church’s Headquarters in Tarkwa Atuabo last Monday, 29 January, 2024.
However, Senior Pastor Francis Baidoo, the Area Head of the Huni Valley district, got to the church premises around 4 pm and observed that the main gate to the entrance of the Church and the auditorium had been locked.
According to him, worried at the situation, he followed up to the house of chairman and the leader of the church to collect the keys to open the gate for their said pastoral council meeting to commence.
He alleged that upon reaching the house, Samuel Boahene, the son of Apostle Boahene started raining insults on him and ordered him to leave the house because he was under his father’s instructions not to release any keys to them.
For reasons not yet established, James Kofi Digberen from nowhere gave him two hefty slaps on him face that spiked fire, smashed his smartphone, and threw him out of the house.
He lamented that Pastor Akins of the Awudua Christian Divine Church who was right beside him on that fateful day and attempted to question James Kofi Digbereen was also not spared another hefty slap by the same culprit.
The conduct of James Kofi Digberen brought tension to the mission house, which triggered supporters of Apostle Ebenezer Boahen and those against him to hurl unprintable words against each other.
The assault case has been reported to the Tarkwa divisional police command for the necessary actions to be taken. The two pastors who were assaulted were also issued medical forms to attend go to the hospital after their statements were taken.
Meanwhile, some members of the pastoral council have expressed their disappointment about the conduct of Apsotle Ebenezer Boahen for denying them access to their own church building to enable them to hold their pastoral council meeting.
One of the pastors from the Teshie branch of the Church in Accra who want to remain anonymous said he travelled all the way from Accra to Tarkwa only for him to get stranded due to the fact that the church was locked up, including their lodgement. He added that they had to spend most hours of their time looking for a place to lodge for safety.
He cautioned Apostle Ebenezer Boahen to vacate the seat as the chairman of the church since his continues hold to the chairmanship position of the church was doing much more harm to the church than good.
Stay tuned.
