The Chiefs of Ada West led by the Chief of Akplabanya in the Sege Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, Nene Moses Ankrah Kitcher Labia VI, have endorsed President Akufo-Addo’s bid for another four-year term in office.
The Chiefs disclosed their endorsement when they paid a courtesy call on President Akufo-Addo at the Jubilee House yesterday.
In his remarks read on his behalf by his spokesperson, Ramus Kwame Ameh, Nene Moses Ankrah Kitcher Labia VI, indicated that the Union of Ada West Chiefs fully support the President’s quest to continue in office from January 7, 2021 to January 7, 2025.
“You Excellency, we are here for three main reasons, first, to congratulate you though belated, on your assumption of the highest office of the land 3 years ago. Secondly, to renew and confirm our strong support for your second term of Office come 2021. We know the Almighty God Himself will grant it” Nene Kitcher Labia VI said.
The third reason for their coming to visit the President was to make a few requests. Among the requests are the fixing of their deplorable road network, dealing with the menace of sea erosion and tidal waves, the lack of jobs for the youth, and the lack of outboard motors for the fisherfolk of the Ada West area to engage in fishing. The Chiefs requested of the President to come to their aid to address these challenges.
President Akufo-Addo in his response thanked the Union of Ada West Chiefs for their visit and support ahead of election 2020.
“I am hoping that this time the support will be such that we cross the line. The defection has taken us near, but still we haven’t crossed the line, hopefully in 2020, we will cross the line” President Akufo-Addo said.
On the challenges on the Ada West area, the President noted that he has taken strong notice of them and his government will seek to address all of them going forward. The specific roads especially the Nakomkope-Toflokpo road and the Anyamam Junction to Wokumagber road according to the President are part of roads that have been scheduled under the year of roads programme. He assured that he will press upon the Roads Minister to ensure that the roads are constructed.
