The Abusuapanin for the Seven Gate of the Awutu Anona Okore Botwe Family, Kobena Adu Buaben stands accused of conniving with some person: Daniel Nyamekye Quaye (Abla – Odefey of Awutu Papase), Isaac Abbey Quaye (Odikro of Awutu Papase No.1), Kwame Larbi, Kwaku Larbi, Kofi Yeboah and Dominic, to beat to pulp a staff of the Stool Lands office called Mr. Stephen Otoo at Papase No.1, off the Bawjiase road, in the Central region.
Mr. Otoo had gone to the site following an instruction by Nai Kawku Bentum II to check what was going on at the old cemetery where these people were reportedly grading to sell, and, on his arrival and during interrogation, about thirty landgurds pounced on him and started beating him.
Due to the Health conditions of the Divisional Chief for Awutu Papase, Nai Kwaku Bentum II for the past five years he has been confined in his residence in Accra and responding to treatment. Nai Kwaku Bentum II has for sometime now been receiving several reports from well-wishers about forgery, impersonation and illegal sale of lands by Abusuapanin Buaben.
“It has come to my notice (Anona Okore Botwe Royal Family) that the Abusuapanin and five others mentioned above are involved in the sale of some acres of stool lands in Papase No.1 without my knowledge, meanwhile am now old and currently confined at home”, he stated in a pettion addressed to the Bawjiase Police Command, explaining that these acres of stool land situated at Awutu Papase No.1 belonged to the Anona Okore Botwe Royal Family of Awutu of which “I am the Chief and custodian and it is being sold without my knowledge, on my blind side and without my involvement”.
He said, he is of the view and suspicion that the above mentioned persons have conspired, connived and sold several acres stool lands to unsuspecting individuals through the forgery of his signature and official stamp as the Chief and custodian of the Papase stool land.
“These same stool lands I have sold to Accra Academy Senior High School and J. A River Company are the ones they have resold and now I am being accused of multiple sale of the stool lands which is not true,” he lamented.
“I have been the Chief and Custodian of Awutu Papase No. 1 stool land which was gazetted to me since 1974,” the chief said, adding that the said “Kobena Adu Buaben was enstooled as the Abusuapanin of the Awutu Anona Okore Botwe Royal Family in the past five years and h has since arrogated all Family and Chieftaincy issues to himself without recourse to me concerning Awutu Papase No.1 land matters”.
Recently I have appointed Daniel Kojo Tetteh , my direct eldest nephew and five others as my representative in all matters concerning Awutu Papase No.1, he added.
The Odikro of Awutu Papase No.1, Abla – Odefey and the Abusuapanin have disregarded all my instructions and authority as the chief and custodian of Papase No.1, stool land which belong to the Awutu Anona Okore Botwe Royal Family.
The chief said he has reported all these fraudulent and illegal activities by the Abusuapanin Buaben and accomplice to the Bawjiase Police Command for the matter to be investigated immediately but nothing has been done about it, which, he said, confirms what Abusuapanin Buaben and his accomplices said that they have the police in their pocket so they cannot do anything to them.
There are documents to all these illegal activities which are evidence but the police has refused to act.
I am therefore calling on government and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to talk to the Bawjiase Police Command to act.
Meanwhile, attempts to reach the accused persons to respond to the allegation proved futile.
